Weekly Weigh In
One of the things I need to stop doing is weighing myself daily.  It does nothing for my mental health. I’m becoming a bit obsessed with the number on the scale and it’s not healthy way to be.  I came to this realization on Friday after seeing the scale jump up & down every day.  When I weighed myself this morning, I didn’t know what to expect.  Seeing a .7 pound gain pissed...

Kitchen Talk
I’ve really been enjoying trying new recipes because they help me stay on track.  I get bored easily so variety in my foods is a must.   I saw that Danielle posted about Potato Nachos and I knew I had to make them.  I LOVE nachos.  At one of my old jobs we used to have nacho day where we would get the cheese in a can & heat it up in a crackpot.  Some of us would bring toppings.  Those...

Parents just don't understand
In this case, the parent I am speaking of is my mom.   I love my mom and up until probably 4 years ago we had a very hot/cold relationship which got better when I moved out in 2007.  I moved back to her house this past summer due to my current job situation.  I am so thankful to have her in my life and for her to be able to help me during this time.  Our relationship has been complicated because...

jessicablossoming replied to your photo: I got my new @SparklySoulInc headband.  It’s… I have a problem with headbands hurting my head also! They squeeze the sides of my head too much and it feels like a bad headache. I’ll have to try these! Ever since I was little I always had issues with headbands.  I could only keep them on for a bit.  This one didn’t even leave much of a headband...

My meatza brings all the boys to the yard And they’re like, it’s better than yours Damn right, it’s better than your’s I could teach you but I have to charge I’ve had this song stuck in my head all day long.  I made a veggie meatza for dinner tonight and it was so good.  I first tried a Greek meatza at the Fitbloggin’ meetup this past weekend.  Here’s...

Weekly Weigh In
I gained a pound. I knew it would happen.   I ate a lot more this week and even went over my daily calories goal several days especially at the beginning of the week.  I felt like I was a bottomless pit.  But towards the end of the week my hunger regulated and I wasn’t wanting to eat everything in site.   I also worked out all 7 days this week and part of me wonders if that had anything to...

Better late than never
Yesterday I did Day 6 of the Boot Camp Challenge but if I may be honest, it was a half ass attempt.  I knew I was going to be busy most of the day & I wanted to continue with my workout streak.  I didn’t give it my all.   Today I woke up later than I anticipated and with the hot weather we are having, I did not want to work out.  But tonight I decided to redo Day 6 and also complete Day...

Fitbloggin' in the East Bay
Yesterday I attended a local Fitbloggin’ meetup in the East Bay that was hosted by Marlene.  She was able to get us some goodies from Silk Fruit & Protein, Attune Foods and others. It was a potluck brunch so I made some WW friendly country fried potatoes.  I was in for a treat at this meet up.  Here’s a list of the ladies in attendance and what they prepared: Marlene - our host...

runrunningrunner replied to your photo: Flashback Friday - Summer 2003 My sister & I… I love Macy Gray - how cool was that! I won a VIP package from a radio station.  We (my sister, 4 friends & I) got to meet Luce (local Bay Area band), Six Pence None the Richer and Macy Gray who was headlining.  She was so cool and laid back.  We got to sit in the VIP area & go backstage,...

Granola bars a la @dietsarah
I always seem to either be starving after I workout or not hungry at all. I had seen this recipe for granola bars & I decided to make them. They are low calorie, high protein post workout bars and they came out pretty tasty. I added coconut, sweet cranberries and raw almonds to mine. Mine made 9 servings for 170 calories each or 5PP+ per bar. I can see myself making these quite often.

Day 5 of the Boot Camp Challenge.  This day was longer & a bit more difficult but I completed it.  I also decided to try a new cardio program from the Fitness channel on cable. Boot Camp: 0:33:00 (+343 pts) Aerobics Class: 0:28:00 || Broke a Sweat (+46 pts) I haven’t been very hungry all day long but I know that I need to eat to keep my metabolism going.  Tonight I am going to make...

Today was a rest day for the Boot Camp Challenge so I was going to go to the gym & do a 5k on the treadmill.  But thinking about climbing the 4 flights of stairs to get to the top of the gym discouraged me to go.  My thighs have been hurting since Sunday.  I am walking around like an old lady.  I know it’s because I am not used to doing squats & I know it will get better.  Instead I...

Weekly Weigh In
Weighed in this morning & I lost 1.1 pounds for a total loss of 93.1.  Wheee!  I actually weighed in on Friday morning and I had lost 2 pounds so I was disappointed to see that the number had lowered.    This week I did track points rather than calories and looking at my food log I did eat more that the week before.  I even went over my points in two days.  This week I will be tracking...

Starting point
It seems like my gym takes more holidays than the banking industry.  Instead of doing a 5k on the treadmill, this is what I did at home.   If you want to add me on Fitocracy, here’s my profile and if you need an invite, let me know.   Tracked a workout for 477 pts Two-Arm Kettlebell Swing: 10 lb x 15 reps (+34 pts) 10 lb x 15 reps (+34 pts) 10 lb x 15 reps (+34 pts) ...

What a creative title eh? When tracking calories or points, make sure you calculate prior to preparing it.  I made some overnight oats with new ingredients and it turned out to be 16PP+/650 calories.  It was a lot for breakfast but it kept me full most of the day so I guess it was worth it.  Overnight oats do not photograph well but they are so good. 1 scoop of Whey Protein in Chocolate 1/3...

Lesson learned
I had four things on my to do list today: Lunch with friend Go to Apple store and get new iPhone case Go to the grocery store Work out Which one do you think that I didn’t get done? Blah… working out. Not because I didn’t have the motivation but yesterday I ate a bad meal. And by bad, I mean junk food. I was under my goal for points so I didn’t over eat. I just ate a...

The good and the ugly
Thank you so much for your support on my post from yesterday.  I almost went back and deleted it due to insecurities but at the end decided not to.   That number is a part of me and my weight loss is something that I should be proud of & not feel ashamed of it. And to those new followers who from me from Anna’s post, thanks for the follow and welcome.   The good… Yesterday I met...

Milestone weigh in
Since I was probably in middle school, I’ve always dealt with being overweight.  I was always the chubby kid in class and then as I got older my weight just kept going up.   Back in May of 2002, I had to have surgery to remove a cyst and when visiting the doctor I was weighed.  I had no concept of how much I weighed so seeing that number was shocking.   That number was 323.   I lost about 10...
